New Vision Renewable Energy and the Evangelical Environmental Network (EEN) are working together with a number of companies, congregations and faith-based organizations to promote creation care and help end energy poverty by providing clean and safe light to the 1.2 billion people living without access to electricity in the world. Revealing Light is a Lenten Devotional that will help us shine the light of Christ on the challenges and opportunities in the daily lives of believers and on the struggles of those living in darkness every night.
This special devotional will take Individuals, families and small groups through a series of Lenten-related devotional thoughts alongside an overview of energy poverty in the world. In addition to providing thoughtful reflections, there will be practical stewardship suggestions. Revealing Light will shed light on many life-giving aspects of faith and service. This 40 day journey helps remind people of the importance of the life, death, burial and resurrection of Christ, the true Light of the World.
Each devotion ties scriptures, stories, and questions together in a way that encourages serious reflection. Each writer provides their own unique contribution and insights. All devotional writers are gifted leaders from a variety of ministerial backgrounds.
The Revealing Light Project includes the opportunity for you or your group to make or send a New Vision solar-powered LED light for a family in need in the developing world (project can be completed in 30 minutes). You will have the opportunity to sponsor light(s) for a school, orphanage, church or village or designate your solar light to our Light For Relief fund to help survivors of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.
Connected to The Revealing Light Project is the goal of raising resources to help families that are struggling with energy poverty issues in the Philippines. All participants, groups, churches, and families will be asked to consider a special offering on Sunday, April 13th to help some of the 4 million people who were displaced in the Philippines by Typhoon Haiyan. The offerings will provide renewable lights for families who are trying to rebuild their lives.
Individuals, Churches, faith-based organizations, and non-governmental organizations will be asked to contribute $500 to cover the production cost of 2,000 printed devotionals. Each group will receive 100 printed devotionals and access to the free online version of the book. In the event that a group does not want all 100 copies, New Vision will use the additional devotionals for outreach work. Please contact New Vision for more information.
Celebrate the Season of Lent with Revealing Light!
The forty days of Lent is, in essence, a place where we allow the light of who Christ is to shine on who we are, where we are, and where we are going. How are we doing in terms of God’s plan for our life? Are we intentionally allowing – or cooperating with – God in the changes He wants to make in us for His glory and our benefit? We are reminded of the practices that strengthen our walk: prayer, fasting, good works, charitable giving. By design, Lent is a time for us to ask God to reveal the sin that remains and reveal more of the plan He has for our lives.
